The Italian Group for the Study of Creatine Metabolism and Transport refers to the Italian Society for the Study of Inborn Metaolic Diseases (SISMME) and to the Italian Society for Newborn Screening (SISN).
The Group involves all professional profiles.
The aim is to promote an active cooperation among all Italian Centres involved (screening, laboratory and imaging diagnostics, follow-up, research) in the study of the defects of creatine metabolism and transport, diseases sharing mental retardation as main clinical sign.
The goal is to improve the quality of research, diagnostics and medical care by mean of research projects, epidemiological studies, terapeutic trials, protocols, etc. even at the international level.
